Chang easily won the lag and made the 3 ball on the break with nice shape on the 1. The problem ball was the 7 but he made a nice carom onto the 8-ball only to miss the tight cut on the 7 to leave Pagulayan with a simple 2 ball out to take the opening rack.

Kuo wins the lag but misses tight cut on the 1 ball, Wu misses same shot and then Kuo once again misses to open table up for Wu who clears up to go into the lead at 1-0.
Wu smacks open the pack and then gets out of trouble to pocket the 1 ball with an excellent jump shot. However, Wu makes his first mistake as he misses a long cut on the pink 4. Kuo plays a great positional shot from 5 to 7 to set up a rack winning out. 1–1.
Following a safety battle on the 1 ball, Kuo misses a relatively straightforward 2 ball to give table back to Wu who clears to go 2-1.
The first break and run of the match sees Wu extend his lead to 3-1.
With nothing available on the 1 ball, Wu pushes out and a safety exchange ensues. Kuo cracks first as he misses the 1 ball completely, trying to swerve and with ball in hand Wu tries a very risky 1/9 combo but falls well short. Kuo then lays a deadly snooker and Wu makes a mess of the escape and with ball in hand, Kuo takes advantage full with a 3/9 combo. 3-2.
A decent break from Kuo leaves him well placed, but a miss on the 2 ball allows Wu in to clear up. 4-2.
Wu snookers his opponent following the break off, but Kuo’s escape leaves a ball on. From there Wu clears up to increase his lead to 5–2.
Kuo tries to leave the 1 safe after Wu misses a cut on it but the 16 year-old is in fearless mood and clears up to go to 6-2.
Wu makes a mistake in the next as he misses a fairly easy pot on the 3 ball. Fortunately for Kuo, it falls nicely for him and he is able to compose himself to clear the table and stop the rot. 6–3 Wu.
Kuo missed the 2 but left it snookered and Wu fouled, handing his opponent a chance to further cut the deficit. 6-4 Wu.
Wu now only leads by one rack as Kuo breaks and runs for the first time in the match. 6-5 Wu.
A safety from Kuo tempted Wu into a jump shot and although he made contact with the 1 ball he left an open table and Kuo cleared to get on level terms. 6–6.
Kuo made a ball on the break but with nothing available a lengthy safety battle follows. Finally, a quality pot by Kuo got him back in the balls, but he missed the 6 ball to allow Wu to clear the table and reassert his lead. 7–6 Wu.
A great break shot from Wu sets up an elementary run out which he takes full advantage of to increase his lead to 8–6.
Wu ran out of position on the 2 ball following a miscue. He tried to play safe but left it on for Kuo who dug deep to clear the table and get to 8–7 down.
Kuo is forced into awkward bridging on the 4 ball and misses the pot, allowing Wu a clearance. 9-7 Wu.
Wu sends the cue ball flying off the table during another power-break. Kuo takes advantage of the chance and makes it 9-8.
Wu looks set to take the rack after a marvellous jump shot on the 2 ball when hooked. He clears the table until a miscue on the 8 ball and Kuo then levels the match at 9-9.
Kuo looked set to take the lead for the first time in the match when his nerves fail him on the 9 ball and Wu makes a table length cut on it to go back infront. 10-9 Wu.
Wu's dry break puts the table back in Kuo's favour and he runs-out to go 10-10.
Kuo makes a jump shot on the 1 ball but it doesn't go down and Wu clears to go back in front at 11-10.
Wu misses a 5 ball down the rail and Kuo steps in to level once again - but he still hasn't been ahead. 11-11.
Kuo finally takes the lead after a carom shot on the 6 ball gives him the chance to clear following a safety exchange. 12-11 to Kuo.
The tide may have turned as Kuo breaks and runs out for a two rack cushion. 13-11.
Kuo misses the 1 ball to leave the table for Wu but a nudge off the orange 5 sends the cue ball into the middle pocket. With ball in hand, Kuo pockets the balls until he runs out of position on the 6 ball and plays a snooker. Wu manages to make contact with the 6 but leaves it on for Kuo. He clears to go into a 14–11 lead.
Another break and run-out despite a tricky layout sees Kuo go to within two racks of victory. 15-11.
Kuo leaves himself a long pot on the 3 ball, jacking the ball up on the rail. He misses but leaves it safe for Wu who plays a safety. Kuo's response isn't accurate enough and Wu seizes the opportunity. 15-12.
Wu runs out of position on the 2 ball and leaves himself snookered. He flukes the 3 ball but scratches as he does so and with ball in hand Kuo goes to the hill. 16-12.
Wu stays alive with a clearance after Kuo makes a schoolboy error by failing to hit a rail with a ball after playing safe. 16-13.
Tension is boiling over in Kaohsiung as Wu breaks and runs-out for 16-14.
Another run-out by the 16 year-old means that Kuo is kept sweating in his chair. 16-15.
The fate of the title will be decided in the final rack after Wu runs out another rack to go hill-hill. 16-16.
The most dramatic conclusion in the history of the event sees Wu run out a fourth and final rack to become the youngest world champion in history.
